Instagram Grid Refresh — A redesigned feed for stronger visual consistency, storytelling, and audience engagement.

Client
Metropolitan Family Service (MFS) is a Portland nonprofit that supports children, families, and older adults through education, financial empowerment, and community wellness programs.
Challenge
MFS had strong photography and stories to share, but their Instagram grid lacked cohesion. Posts looked good individually, yet together they created a chaotic feed: inconsistent colors, no awareness of grid presentation, and little visual rhythm. This made the brand feel less intentional and harder for followers to recognize at a glance.
Solution
I developed a repeatable content framework for Instagram that aligned agency goals with audience needs — then executed the refreshed grid and design system.
Applied a unified color palette to create harmony across posts.
Introduced a repeatable pattern for different content types (stories, events, staff spotlights).
Balanced photos with designed graphics to guide the eye through the feed.
Took an empathy-centered approach — addressing both agency goals and audience needs — by incorporating mission-centered quotes, informational content such as food pantry schedules, and designed graphics that made community resources easier to access.
Result
The redesigned grid turned a scattered feed into a visually consistent, professional presence that better reflected MFS’s mission. I also built the account from the ground up to 1,200+ followers — turning it into a trusted channel for community stories, mission-centered quotes, and critical resources.
